SideByHome Privacy Policy
Last updated October 23, 2026.
Mouhamadou Dieng, doing business as SideByHome ("SideByHome", "we") makes personalized postcards for home-improvement contractors. This policy covers three groups of people: contractors who use SideByHome (our customers), homeowners whose homes appear on postcards, and people who scan a postcard's QR code.
What we collect
Contractors (our customers)
- Account details: name, email, company name, website, phone, business address.
- Billing: handled by Stripe. We store a Stripe customer reference, never card numbers.
- What you create: designs, offers, campaigns, uploaded logos and artwork.
- Basic usage and security logs.
Homeowners
- Property information: the home's address and characteristics (for example year built, home type), from public records and licensed data providers (such as PropertyRadar) and public real-estate listings.
- Owner information: the owner's name and, if different, mailing address, from public records via licensed data providers. Used to address the postcard.
- Photos: one publicly available listing photo of the home's exterior, and the AI-edited version made from it. Photos are stored privately and shown only to the contractor running the campaign and our reviewers.
- We don't collect homeowners' emails, phone numbers or financial information, and we don't buy consumer profiles.
People who scan a QR code
- The time of the scan, the approximate city and region (from the network, not GPS), the device and browser type, and whether the same code was scanned before.
- Your IP address is never stored: we keep only a one-way hash, salted daily, used to spot repeat or automated scans.
- The QR code is tied to the address the postcard was mailed to, so the contractor can see that the card sent to that address was scanned.
How we use it
- To create, review and mail postcards, and to report deliveries and scans to the contractor who sent them.
- To run accounts and billing, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the service working.
- To send service emails to contractors (account, campaign status, weekly summary; the weekly summary has a one-click unsubscribe).
- We do not sell personal information, and we don't use homeowner information for any purpose other than the contractor's mailing.
Who we share it with
- The contractor who runs the campaign sees the homeowner name and address on their cards, the cards themselves, delivery status and scan events for their own campaigns.
- Service providers who process data for us under contract: Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (website hosting), Trigger.dev (background jobs), Stripe (payments), PostGrid (printing and mailing), Resend (email), Google (Gemini, image editing and image analysis), Anthropic (Claude, image quality review and website reading), Apify (public listing data and photos), PropertyRadar (property and owner records).
- Authorities, when required by law.
Opting out of mail (homeowners)
You can ask us to stop all SideByHome postcards to your address at any time by emailing mdieng@sidebyhome.com. We add the address to a do-not-mail list that applies to every contractor on SideByHome, permanently. A postcard already printed may still arrive.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act), you can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale of personal data (we don't sell it). Contact mdieng@sidebyhome.com. We'll verify the request and answer within 45 days. You won't be treated differently for making a request.
How long we keep it
- Contractor accounts: while the account is open, then 7 years for billing, tax and legal records.
- Homeowner property, owner and photo data: while it's needed for active and recent campaigns; photos that couldn't be used are kept no longer than 180 days; mailing records for 3 years for billing and dispute handling.
- QR scan records: 2 years.
- The do-not-mail list is kept indefinitely so an opt-out keeps working.
Security
Data is stored in private storage and databases, encrypted in transit; photos are reached only through short-lived signed links; access is limited to people and systems that need it.
Children
SideByHome is a business service and isn't directed to children under 13.
Changes and contact
We'll post changes here and email contractors about significant ones. Questions or requests: mdieng@sidebyhome.com.
